Osijek is a city in eastern Croatia, located in a plain on the right bank of the Drava River. It is the largest city in Slavonia, the fourth largest city in Croatia, and the city with the most greenery and green areas in Croatia - the city area is home to 17 parks with a total area of 394,000 m².
It is the largest cultural center of Slavonia and Baranja. Osijek is also home to a museum of national significance, the Museum of Slavonia, which houses rich collections of objects related to the history of Slavonia. Additionally, Osijek has something truly special on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list - licitar. It dates back to the Middle Ages when honey cake craftsmen in Central Europe began to richly decorate gingerbread, and from the 18th century in Croatia, this craft developed into its current form.
